Kids Who Need Medical Care Find Hope In This Pilot

Joe DeMarco loves to fly planes — but he was always looking for a reason to go somewhere. He founded his own nonprofit, which makes over 500 flights a year for patients who need transportation to health facilities across the nation.

Wings Flights of Hope is made up of 12 volunteer pilots who dedicate their time to helping “anyone at any time.” The organization flies people in need free of charge all over the northeastern part of the U.S. to doctors appointments, chemo sessions and even for emergency transplant operations.

Since its inception six years ago, Wings has made 2,000 flights – ensuring hundreds of people get the medical treatments they need.
