Desperate Emus Invade Garden To Drink From Pool In Drought

Emus have invaded the streets of a outback Australian town as the severe drought drives them out of their habitat in search of food and water.

Viral footage from Broken Hill, in NSW, shows a mob of the giant, flightless birds drinking from a paddle pool outside a home in the old mining town.

Mum-of-three Sarah Bugeja, 39, said she filled the pool for the native wildlife to keep hydrated amid what is being called the worst drought in living memory.

The teacher said: “The fact they are coming this far into town shows how desperate they are.”
