London in the 1950’s was where modern hairdressing was born. It was the era of Evansky, Sassoon, Leonard of Mayfair… and “Mr. Teasy-Weasy” himself, Raymond Bessone.
In this rare lost footage from 1956, watch as he unveils his latest trend, “Two Tone Hairstyles”…perhaps the earliest example of Color Rage?
With a larger-than-life personality and even bigger hairstyles, Raymond Bessone – also known as Mr Teasy-Weasy – was the first TV hairdresser and kick-started the concept of celebrity stylists.
He also was the teacher and mentor of Vidal Sassoon… helping to shape his artistry and talent early in his career.
