Sober Driver Tests Positive In Breath Test After Using Ulcer Cream

A random breath test left a sober driver in shock after returning a positive result due to a popular mouth ulcer cream.

Melbourne driver Chris Holloway blew 0.5 – ten times over the legal limit – when pulled over by police at lunchtime on Australia Day.

He had applied Bonjela, an ointment used for treating mouth ulcers or teething babies, while waiting in the queue to be tested.

According to the label, Bonjela Mouth Ulcer Gel contains choline calicylate, alcohol and saccharin, and cetalkonium chloride as a preservative.
