Up at the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in the Kalahari Desert, is a well-known picnic spot. The Melkvlei picnic spot is a favourite of visitors to the park, and a nice place to stop for the bathroom and a quick coffee.
However, the guests on this day, were barred from going to the bathroom by a rather inconsiderate pride of lions. Some European tourists went so far as to suggest that the lions be moved.
Corrie Wessels, the person who initially spotted the pride, spent the next few hours watching the lions and warning other tourists, as well as politely explaining to her young daughter why using those toilets wasn’t the best idea at the time.
