A newborn baby died just moments after the two surgeons who carried out her emergency cesarean were caught fighting on camera. Doctors Ashok Nainwal and Dr Tak were filmed having a 30-minute bust-up in the middle of the operating room during the surgery.
Footage from Umaid Hospital in Jodhpur in Rajasthan in western India, showed the doctors arguing loudly and calling each other names as Anita Singh, the mum-to-be lies unconscious on the operation table.
When Dr Nainwal, the obstetrician, finally delivered the baby at the hospital-the city’s biggest, it didn’t survive long.
The spat is believed to have ensued after Dr Nainwal questioned whether the patient had eaten before the operation and anesthetist Dr Tak tried to have a junior doctor carry out the tests that Dr Nainwal did not agree with.
A nurse and another doctor are seen trying to stop them and remind them that a surgery was on. The emergency cesarean operation was scheduled because of the feeble heartbeat of the foetus.
