Bush explorer Barbara Jensen Vorster, 57, was taking pictures of the pride from a 4×4 in the Mashatu Game Reserve in Botswana when the equipment fell to the ground.
A lioness then grabbed the camera before handing it over to her little ones. In the clip, three cubs can be seen circling and sniffing the camera as it lies between their mother’s paws. The protective lioness then strolls along with the camera in her mouth as her cubs walk ahead of her.
A guide from another vehicle was eventually able to get the camera back when the cubs grew tired of their new toy, having dragged it through the dirt and chewed on the lens cover.
