The Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club (ADAC), Germany’s equivalent to the AAA, brings us the harrowing results of this standard front-offset crash test.
The 1:8 scale Lego kit, comprised of 2700 pieces at a cost of $300, simply isn’t built to withstand even a relatively low-speed impact.
The Lego Porsche raced at 46 km / h against an extra-developed Minicrashblog. “The result was impressive and different than expected.
“The chassis of the car had no problems with the high speed, and there were very little damaged stones on impact. It was almost exclusively the click connections between the components, “says Heilmaier.
The challenge was now to test this small car in the normal crash system and still produce the most realistic damage possible,” explains Johannes Heilmaier, head of the crash system at the ADAC Technikzentrum. “We developed a crash set-up like for any other car – just in mini format.”
