A homeless man with a gift for music says he feels like he hit the jackpot after landing a recording contract.
Donald Gould of Sarasota, Florida has battled addiction and homelessness for years, but he has been turning his life around after getting launched into viral fame.
A video posted by Sly Dylan to YouTube in June 2015 has been viewed more than 20 million times. His story was picked up around the world.
Over the past year, Gould moved to a halfway house and has been focusing on his passion for music. He’s been interviewed by numerous new outlets and was even invited to play at a San Francisco 49ers game. He even reunited with his estranged son, and the two now speak with each other regularly.
Soon, he was approached by a music producer from Triple Pop Records, who offered him the opportunity of a lifetime: a recording contract. His first single is the song that brought him viral fame: “Come Sail Away” by Styx.
