It’s not exactly a secret major retail chains tend to treat many of their lower-level workers as cogs in the corporate machine, and it’s important for chains to institute infinite levels of management to make sure everything runs smoothly at every level.
It’s understandable why a corporate executive might not be able to name every single person he or she technically oversees, but anyone tasked with managing a department at a specific store would at least be familiar with the employees.
It’s understandable why the manager on the phone in this video would be mad at an associate who is bold enough to try to call off work so he can go fishing, but her reaction would have been a bit more justified if “Jordan” was an actual employee of the store instead of a random person pulling a prank.
