A mother dying of breast cancer got her wish to see her daughter graduate from school when officials worked to bring the ceremony to her hospital room.
Patricia Parrotte, 55, was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer and a rare autoimmune disease in November 2016. After extensive testing, chemotherapy, a mastectomy and other forms of treatment, doctors determined that Parrotte’s condition was terminal.
An emotional video shared to YouTube of the special ceremony shows the teen wearing her graduation gown as she hugs and kisses her 55-year-old mother before she is presented with her diploma and a trophy by school officials.
Parrotte tragically died two days after the ceremony inside her hospital room.
‘Nobody in the room will ever forget this incredible moment, and we want to share it with the world,’ the family wrote.
‘In this video, witness the strength and fortitude of a woman who suffered every day for the past 10 months, but refused to miss her youngest daughter’s graduation.’
