This is the heartwarming moment Sri Lankan forest officials rescue a baby elephant four hours after it had fallen into a 12ft deep well.
The one-year-old calf had accidentally fallen into a well meant for irrigation purposes in Horowpathana in Sri Lanka on Thursday morning.
After hearing its relentless cries, it was spotted by the local residents struggling to stay afloat in the well, who then informed the forest department.
A team of forest officials rushed to the spot and rescued the tusker using ropes.
Visuals captured by locals show the rescuers using ropes as a harness to pull out the calf from the well.
