Dashcam Captures Plane’s Crash Landing On Busy Florida Road

A police camera captured the moment a single-engine plane crashed onto a Florida road on Sunday afternoon.

The plane, which was travelling from Clearwater Airpark to Zephyrhills Municipal Airport, experienced engine trouble mid-flight, forcing 61-year-old pilot Marc Allen Benedict.

Mr Benedict was worried that they wouldn’t make it to the airport, so began looking for a safe place to land the plane, according to Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Corporal Dan DiFrancesco.

“He noticed the road was open. He also noticed we had deputy in the area that was helping because he was on a traffic stop,” Corporal DiFrancesco told local news cannel WFLA.
While attempting to land, part of Benedict’s plane caught of a tree, causing Benedict to lose control and crash on the road, but managed to avoid any other road vehicles.

Neither Benedict nor his 55-year-old passenger Gregory Guinee were injured during the incident.
