Clever Contraption Scares Students into Wearing Seat Belts Even When Going at a 5 MPH Speed

It’s general knowledge that seat belts save lives, but there are those who don’t think they’re necessary when moving at slow speeds inside a car.

To convince them and raise awareness, the Connecticut State Police teamed up with the University of Hartfort Department of Public Safety with a clever contraption.

They let students hop on a cockpit dubbed as ‘The Convincer,’ where they are strapped in a seat and made to simulate a car ride going at a speed of 5 mph, before coming to a jolting stop.

After asking if they would like to go on another ride sans the seat belt, their experience was convincing enough for them to say no.
