Chris Stapleton had the stage lights turned purple at his show in Berkeley, California as he gave his bluesy tribute to the late music icon, Prince.
Most folks will recognize the song Chris did, “Nothing Compares 2 U,” as a Sinead O’Conner hit from 1990, but Prince wrote it and also recorded it as a duet with singer Rosie Gaines.
Neither of those versions sounded quite like Chris’ take on the song, though. Chris growls and wails his way through the plaintive lyrics while laying on a thick guitar part to top it all off.
