There’s a camera with a zoom so powerful that it can make far-away objects, like the moon that’s 238,900 miles away, appear close.
The Nikon Coolpix P900 has an 83x optical zoom, which is the equivalent of 2000mm zoom range. That’s insane for a DSLR that costs $600. For comparison, most cameras in that price range come with kit lenses with a zoom range of 18mm to 55mm.
At the same time, you can switch out the lens on most DSLRs with longer zoom lenses. With the Coolpix p900, you’re stuck with the lens it came with.
You’d think the Coolpix 900’s lens would be absolutely massive, but it’s not as long as you’d think when fully extended.
And if that zoom still can’t get you close enough, the Coolpix 900 has what Nikon calls “Dynamic Fine Zoom,” which is basically digital zoom (instead of optical zoom, which uses the lens). That brings the P900’s total zoom to 133x, or 4000mm zoom.
