Bullying Victim Billy William Receives Moral Support From NFL Star JJ Watt

Billy William, a 12-year-old boy from Houston, Texas, who knows a thing or two about bullying. He’s endured endless ridicule regarding everything from his teeth to this stature, with plenty of kids teasing him for being too small to play football despite the fact that he loves sports.

Enter NFL superstar JJ Watt, a defensive end for the Houston Texans who just happens to be Billy’s favorite player. Much to Billy’s surprise, the pair have a candid chat about bullying, in which Watt reveals that he, too, suffered ridicule and was told he was “too small” to play football.

To restore Billy’s confidence, Watt brings him to play some flag football. Billy reports feeling “happy and proud,” loving being a part of a team for once. To make the moment even sweeter, the Houston YMCA offers Billy a free lifetime membership so that he can “continue to enjoy Y programs for many years to come.” We imagine Watt’s lessons about perseverance and the power of “never giving up” will stick with Billy forever, and who knows? Maybe we’ll see him on the NFL field one day too.
